Vogue Australia- For a family looking for a rural retreat, Citizen Artist crafted an architectural home in the hamlet of Water Mill, where light, geometry and material restraint unfold in dialogue with nature, all year-round. Landscape Architecture by Araiys Design. “The design celebrates discovery, movement, and a renewed sense of place,” explains landscape architect Steve Nieroda of Araiys Design. “Material choices play a critical role in this experience: hardscape elements extend the architecture of the home into the landscape, the surrounding woodland offers a warm, embracing backdrop, and the terraced approach to the sloping terrain creates a sequence of destinations that activate the entire property.” "If the owners can now describe their serene, trans seasonal family home in one way, it’s “poetic”. Even, if not most especially, after the complex coordination required from such a ground-up project between Kalichstein, Rose, Poremba and Nieroda, tied together by the team’s guiding theme for the project: “tailored, gracious and natural.”
