Architecture is often a matter of choices: emphasis or rigor, softness or angularity, solid or empty, horizontal or vertical. This contemporary home nestled in the wooded landscape of Water Mill , NY, is unafraid to define itself through precise and clean gestures that speak of geometry and rationality, allowing the enchantment of nature to remain in the foreground, only touched upon by human artifice. The project is by Citizen Artist , a studio that worked closely with two other firms: Jason Thomas Architects and Araiys Design Landscape Architecture. On one side, therefore, a large team of professionals dedicated to excellence; on the other, a New York family seeking a place to escape year-round, and not just for holidays. The result is a home built to last , one that engages with the landscape, time, and the seasons. Developed horizontally, the structure rests on the ground, material yet light in its essential linearity. The interiors reiterate the same philosophy, with angled planes, faceted volumes and precise intersections that weave the fabric of a dynamic space , where organization and fluidity coexist.
