This residence is a modern structure of steel and glass and sits prominently against Noyack Bay with spectacular views. The client wished to have their site mimic the surrounding dune landscape, utilizing undulations and native plants. Because of its micro-climate, the plant palette is severely limited. The winter winds out of the northwest dominate the site, creating a very harsh winter landscape. With the use of native plants and grasses, we have eliminated the nuisance of the deer browsing. Keeping the plant palette simple allows for a pleasant transition from indoor to outdoor space. Screening the adjacent properties with native evergreen trees provides privacy for outdoor activities for the site and the client.
